Article Overview
This article will cover how to set the appropriate area limitations for your company. It will also cover how to draw out and assign areas to SalesRabbit users using the Web App.
TIPS: A SalesRabbit user MUST be assigned to an Office or Team in order to be assigned an area.
You can change a user's org assignment from their User Details page if needed.
Visit our article on the Org Chart to learn how to manage your offices and teams.
Part 1: Configure Your Area Settings
This part will cover how to set the minimum/maximum number of areas a user can be assigned to at once. Additionally, how to set an "Unassigned Area Removal" timeline.
- Log in to the SalesRabbit web app
- From the left-hand menu, click "Settings" -> "Areas" under the Sales column.
-
Select the maximum number of areas that a SalesRabbit user can be assigned to at one time.
- Example: setting this number to 5 areas will allow a user to be assigned to 5 areas at one time. When that user is assigned a 6th area, they'll simply be unassigned from the area they've been assigned the longest. The unassigned area will still live on the map as a black/gray color and the rep's lead in that old area will remain.
- Note: Best practice is to set this between 3-5 areas.
-
Set the "Automatic Sales Areas Deletion" time frame.
- This setting will automatically remove unassigned areas on your map that remain unassigned for a specified amount of time.
- Note: This will NOT remove/delete any leads living in those unassigned areas.
- Click "Save" in the top right corner to save your changes
Part 2: Draw & Assign Areas on the Web App Map
This part will cover how to draw and assign areas to SalesRabbit users from the Web App. Areas can also be drawn and assigned from the mobile app as well.
Note: Your role needs to have the permission to "Manage Areas" to perform these steps.
- While logged in to the SalesRabbit web app, click SalesHub -> Map within the left-hand menu.
- Zoom in to the location of the desired area assignment.
- Selecting the map layers icon on the right hand side menu will give you power choose whether existing areas, leads, and user locations will appear on your map. Additionally, you can change what type of map you want to view (Street, Satellite, or Hybrid).
- Also found in the right hand side menu is the "Area Tool Drawer". This is represented by a constellation icon.
- To draw a new area, select the "Area Tool Drawer" icon and select which office the area will be assigned to.
-
After selecting the appropriate office, your cursor will turn into a crosshair ("+") symbol
- Start creating an area by clicking on the map and creating a starting point.
- The area line will follow your cursor and allow you to click to place multiple points to create a shape.
- Once your shape is connect to the original point, your new unassigned area will be created. Unassigned areas will display on the map in black/gray.
-
An "Area Info" pop-out provides option to:
- View how many homes/leads are in the newly drawn area.
- Assign the area to a user(s)
- Also details the date the area was created and last updated.
- When an area is assigned to a user, that area will display as that user's color. User colors can be redefined on the user's detail page.
Part 3: Draw & Assign Areas on the Mobile App
This part will cover how to draw and assign areas to SalesRabbit users from the Web App. Areas can also be drawn and assigned from the web app.
- You can also create/assign areas using the SalesRabbit Mobile App using the Lasso Tool. To learn more about mobile app areas and lasso tool, see the following articles:
Pro Tips
- 3-5 Areas per rep is recommended.
- Unassign worked Areas rather than delete them
- Strategically go back to Areas worked.
- Send back the same rep for rapport or send a new rep to that area to maximize sales.
- Create Areas that are strategically sized
- Avoid assigning entire cities; do assign 3-5 blocks per Area.
- NOTE: If you have the DataGrid AI add-on, assigned areas will populate the DataGrid AI pins. Each area can generate a total of 3,000 DataGrid AI pins. So be aware of your area sizes when making assignments. To Learn more, see the Populating DataGrid AI (iOS) article.
- DataGrid AI information is only available on the mobile app and not on the web app.
