Uploading Map Overlays

Article Overview

The Sales Rabbit "Map Overlays" enable you to display mapping information both on the Web App (app.salesrabbit.com) and in your iOS or Android apps. This data can be displayed in whatever way it is stored in your KML or KMZ files. (e.g. Specific data points, lines, heat mapping, or colored territory) 

Note: The max file size for a map overlay file is 10 MB

Part 1: Permissions for Map Overlays

In order to upload Map Overlays, users need to have the "Account Settings" permission enabled for their assigned role. With the "Account Settings" permission enabled, users can access the "Settings" option in the lefthand menu where they will find the option for "Map Overlays".

Note: owners and admins have this permission enabled by default.

• From the SalesRabbit Web App, navigate to "Settings" and then to "Roles & Permissions".

• Once inside the "Roles & Permissions" page, navigate to "Account Settings" and then click the toggle on the far right to "On".

Part 2: Upload a Map Overlay

This part demonstrates how to upload a Map Overlay on the SalesRabbit Web App. 

• From the SalesRabbit Web App, navigate to "Settings" -> select "Map Overlays" under the Sales column.

• On the Map Overlays page users will find previously uploaded files listed or the option for "+ Add".
  • Note: the Map Overlays feature works with KML or KMZ formatted file types.
• Upload a new overlay/file by selecting the "+ Add" button.

• After selecting the file, provide the following information:
  • "Display Name": provide a name/title for the overlay. 
  • "Visibility": select which users will have access to this Map Overlay on the mobile app. 
    • Note: Select users within an Org Assignment (Department, Region, Office, or team as a whole) or selecting by individual users. 
  • Then click "Save" after making your selections

• Once saved, the file will be added to the "Map Overlays" menu.
• View a Map Overlay; if your file has heat mapping, boundary lines, or specific data points those will populate according on the map on the right side. Selecting another file will display the selected overlay. 

Part 3: View Map Overlays on Mobile (iOS)

In this part, we will cover how to apply map overlays on the mobile app on an iOS device.

• From the SalesRabbit iOS Mobile app, navigate to "Sales Hub" -> click on the "Filters" icon in the top left-hand corner.
• Enable the "Map Overlays" filter -> select on the drop-down arrow to view available map overlays -> click on an overlay(s) to display on the map -> click "Done".
  • Tip: if a user cannot access a certain overlay, double check that user has "Visibility" for that overlay on the Web App.
• Any selected overlay(s) will display on the map view.

• To remove a map overlay from the map, go back to the "Filters" and disable the Map Overlay(s). This will remove the Map Overlay from the map view.

Part 4: View Map Overlays on Mobile (Android)

In this part, we will cover how to apply map overlays on the mobile app on an Android device.

• From the SalesRabbit Android mobile app, select the three stacked lines in the top leftcorner -> click on "SalesHub" -> click on the "Filters" in the upper right corner.
• Enable the "Map Overlays" filter -> select on the drop-down arrow to view available map overlays -> click on an overlay(s) to display on the map -> click "Done".
  • Tip: if a user cannot access a certain overlay, double check that user has "Visibility" for that overlay on the Web App.
• Any selected overlay(s) will display on the map view.

• To remove a map overlay from the map, go back to the "Filters" and disable the Map Overlay(s). This will remove the Map Overlay(s) from the map view.
